Amazon Prime Day 2023 is happening on July 11th and 12th

It’s that time of the year again. Amazon once again confirmed the dates for its annual sales event for Prime members. Amazon Prime Day 2023 officially kicks off at 3 AM ET / 12 AM PT on Tuesday, July 11, and runs through Wednesday, 12^th.

This is a great opportunity to access huge deals and savings on a range of goods, before the Black Friday / Cyber Monday shopping season. That’s assuming that Amazon won’t surprise us again with another “Prime Early Access Sale” (aka Prime Day 2.0) as it did in early fall last year.

If you’re a Prime member, it means the Prime Day deals for 2023 are just three weeks out.

What is Prime Day?

For those not familiar, Prime Day is Amazon’s faux shopping bonanza offering Prime members exclusive access to sitewide deals. While some of the best deals tend to be on Amazon hardware, Prime Day is also a great time to score the best deals on Apple gear, laptops, gaming desktops, appliances, and 4K TVs.

First held in 2015 in honor of Amazon’s 20^th anniversary, it was originally tainted as a “one-day-only event filled with more deals than Black Friday.” In the years since it’s scaled into a 48-hour shopping holiday that’s preceded by a week of offers.

What’s new or different about Prime Day this year?

For Prime Day 2023, Amazon is introducing a brand-new “invite only” deals program for products it expects to have on sale during the 48-hour period, which should alleviate some of the unexpected shopping frenzies that typically surround its doorbusters. Prime members can visit these product listings to request an invitation ahead of the event. If chosen, you’ll receive an email with a unique link to purchase the item during Prime Day.

So far, Amazon hasn’t explained how it’ll be picking these lucky eligible shoppers; all we know is that they’re exclusive Prime Members (paid or trial).

Prime Day sales are exclusively available for Amazon Prime members only. If you haven’t been a Prime member in the past 12 months, you can sign up for a free trial. Amazon offers traditional memberships, student memberships, and discounted plans for anyone receiving government assistance.

Amazon Prime gives exclusive access to free shipping on over 100 million products. It also includes access to services like Prime Videos, Prime Music, and Prime Gaming. Subscriptions are available for $139/year or $14.99/month. New members can also get a free 30-day trial.

Amazon Prime Student: free 6-month trial @ Amazon

Prime Student gives access to free 2-day shipping, Prime Video, exclusive Prime member-only deals, and more. Amazon Prime Student costs $69/year, which is almost 50% less than a typical Prime membership. It’s also available on a monthly plan at $7.49/month.

Amazon Prime Access: free 30-day trial @ Amazon

Amazon Prime Access is a discounted version of Prime for anyone who receives SNAP, Medicaid, or other qualifying government assistance. Memberships cost $6.99/month and include access to all Prime member benefits. New members can sign up for a 30-day trial.

Amazon Prime UK membership: free 30-day trial @ Amazon UK

Amazon Prime gives exclusive access to free shipping on over 100 million products. It also includes access to services like Prime Videos, Prime Music, and Prime Gaming. Subscriptions are available for £95/year or £8.99/month. New members can also get a free 30-day trial.

Like last year, early deals officially kick off weeks prior to the actual event, with Echo speakers, Eero mesh Wi-Fi routers, and other Alexa-enabled devices receiving up to 55 percent off starting as early as this week. Amazon also says it will be offering discounts on select services during the 48-hour event — including discounts on Prime Video and Amazon Music Unlimited — as well as invite-only deals, which allow Prime members to sign up in advance for deals that are expected to sell out.

The two-day sale is not all about Amazon devices and services, though. The event offers one of the year’s best opportunities to save on other kinds of electronics, including robot vacuums, wireless earbuds, laptops, charging accessories, and 4K TVs. Amazon says the sale will showcase the “lowest prices so far this year” on select products from Bose, Theragun, and a host of other well-established brands. Outside of that, there tends to be a plethora of deals available on tabletop games, home goods, toys, beauty products, and pretty much everything else under the sun.

Early Prime Day sales start today

While the majority of Prime Day deals will be reserved for July 11 and 12, there are still savings to be made leading to the event. In previous years, Amazon has kicked off Prime Day with a whole week of teaser deals in the run-up to the main event, and it’s been confirmed that will be repeated this year. However, this year the deals will start significantly earlier.

As usual, these Prime Day deals will be available to Prime members living in the US but also to those in other countries, including Australia, Germany, Japan, and more than 20 other regions around the globe.
