For every pre-built gaming PC with a massive case, there’s always something more subtle. In some ways, the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A36 follows the lead of top-tier mid-towers with a grey, glass-packed design. But it also emulates some of the best gaming PCs with lots of standard parts and plenty of upgradability options.
Packed into the HYTE Y60 panoramic case is an Intel Core i9-13900KF processor, Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, 16GB memory, and 1TB NVMe SSD storage. This is a pretty powerful combination for both 1080p and 1440p gaming, and it can run your games at 4K too, but it won’t rival the best gaming PCs out there in the latter.
The Gamer GXiVR8080A36 is worthy of consideration for anyone not willing to drop over $3,000 on a pre-built PC but needs something that can ace most modern titles including Cyberpunk 2077 without being too expensive. Well, its asking price of around two grand isn’t any cheap, but it costs much less compared to similarly configured gaming PCs from HP, Lenovo, and Dell among other mainstream manufacturers.

Design and Features
Both the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A34 and GXiVR8080A36 use the spectacular HYTE 60 case, we’ve also seen this case on the iBuyPower Pro Y60, all released in 2023. The HYTE 60 case is a 3-piece pinnacle glass held together by a metallic frame, making it way more beautiful than the usual tempered side panels on most gaming PCs. There are front-access ports on the base, while the rest of the ports are found at the back.
In addition to the three tempered glass panels that provide a panoramic view of the PC’s hardware, the Y60 also features a dedicated basement for cooling. The wrap-around effect of the glass panels gives the PC a unique look, and the three 120mm 3-pin case fans have RGB lights as you’d find on most gaming machines. Since the bottom fans are in the basement, the PC doesn’t come with radiator support at the bottom.
Having a big chassis comes with its benefits, and for gaming machines, it’s excellent cooling. This CyberPowerPC uses a 360mm radiator AIO liquid, which is more than enough to keep the Core i9 processor cooled. The GXiVR8080A36 gets three 120mm RGB fans, in total, and another three are located on the sides and rear of the HYTE Y60 case.
Cable management in this case is top-notch and you get enough connection ports and enough legroom for expansion than most. Connectivity is excellent, with six USB 3.1 ports, two USB 2.0, an Ethernet port, 802.11AC Wi-Fi, and a 7.1 audio channel. There’s an HDMI port and two DisplayPort on the RTX 4070 graphics card for dual-monitor setups.
Gaming Performance
Configured with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 and an Intel Core i9-13900KF, the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A36 can power through many games at their highest settings and 1080p and 1440p resolutions. You can even get some decent 4K playability, but at 1080p which uses the CPU more, it sometimes ends up on par with systems with the more powerful RTX 4080.
The GXiVR8080A36 can handle Control (which continues to be a punishing game of all time) at its best, albeit not at 60 fps. At 4K on the high graphics preset and high ray-tracing settings, the game runs around 45 frames per second while fighting to overcome an object of power and as low as 30 fps in intense combat sequences with tons of effects.
On the Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmark (highest settings), the Gamer Xtreme VR runs the game at 261 fps at 1080p and 85fps in 4K. The MSI Infinite RS 13th, a top-tier prebuilt with a beefier RTX 4090 GPU, delivers better but is still within a frame. Compared, the HP Omen 45L, which packs an Intel Core i9-12900K and RTX 3090 hits 161 fps at 1080p and 65fps at 4K, and that demonstrates the generational performance difference with the newer hardware from both Intel and Nvidia.
The phenomenal gaming performance is thanks to the Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card, which replaces the midrange Nvidia RTX 3070 from last year. The RTX 4070 delivers solid performance at both 1440p and 4K gaming, at a nearly 15 percent price increase over its predecessor. Performance-wise, it’s around 20 percent faster than the RTX 3070, and competes favorably with AMD’s new Radeon RX 7900 XT, especially for high refresh rate gaming at 1440p.
The 4070 card features a large vapor chamber for cooling, with an extended heat sink for air to pass through toward your RAM or CPU. On the back are three 1.4 DisplayPorts and a single HDMI 2.1 port. You can power a 4K monitor at 240Hz or even an 8K display at 60Hz.
It offers 5,888 cores and 12GB graphics memory with a 192-bit memory bus and is clocked at 21 Gbits. It offers great raytracing performance all thanks to the 46 dedicated raytracing cores. In total, the RTX 4070 has 184 Tensor cores, making it a perfect choice for 1440p gaming. It’s especially suited for 2K play at around 60fps, but you might have to reduce it to QHD resolution on demanding games.
the RTX 4070’s performance is similar to the previous generation RTX 3090 / 3090 Ti, and as it rolls out into more gaming PCs, we’ll keep tabs to see how it fares against the competition from AMD’s silicones. On the CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8080A36, the RTX 4070 easily trades blows with more expensive gaming PCs.
Productivity Performance
With a Core i9-13900KF and 16GB of DDR5 RAM in the system, I expected some solid productivity performance, especially now that the Gamer Xtreme VR has moved to better cooling in a newer case.
On Geekbench 5, the Gamer GXiVR8080A36 earns a single-core score of 2,114 and a multi-core score of 22, 718. The MSI Infinite RS 13th, with the same CPU, but 32GB of RAM, tops out with 2,178 and does even better in multi-core (23,758). On the other hand, the HP Omen 45L running last gen’s Core i9-12900K maxes at 1,914 on single-core and 15,924 on multi-core.
The GXiVR8080A36’s 1TB SSD does a good job of transferring 25GB of data at a rate of 2,101.85 MBps, falling behind the Omen (2.523.56 MBps), but still ahead of the MSI (1, 798.66 MBps).
It takes 2 minutes 58 seconds for the Gamer Xtreme to transcode a 4K video to 1080p in Handbrake. While that’s fairly faster than the Omen 45L (3:39), the MSI Infinite RS 13 is 12 seconds faster.
CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A36 Review: Verdict
The CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A36 is a capable gaming machine with plenty of upgrade possibilities down the line. The RTX 4070 is capable of playing games at 1080p and 1440p, and you can get some 4K playability as well. It gets a powerful 13th-generation CPU, fast 1TB SSD storage, and 16GB RAM making it a productivity powerhouse (if you don’t mind the gaming design).
As of writing, there are two configurations of the same machine with basically identical specifications, but the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A34 arrives with an RTX 4070 Ti graphics card and costs hundreds of dollars more.
If you want a fantastic 1080p machine that looks gorgeous, the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A36 squeezes every bit of performance out of its components for rock-solid performance in most situations. The HYTE Y60 looks beautiful and unique, and that means this desktop manages to look in a gamer kind of way without coming off as ostentatious. Again, the price of this desktop is really good for what you get, it even undermines its RTX 4070 Ti iteration that’s a bit expensive.
