For the most part, it leverages solid performance with modern components, getting results at par with the top end of Intel’s 11-the gen mobile processors, something that’s truly creditable. These are packed into an attractive case, slim enough to look pricier than it is, and given enough ports to make it fully useful.

Design and Features
One of the first major things you’ll note about the HP 15 laptop is that it doesn’t look like a mid-range office laptop. With sharp edges and cool silver styling, you might be forgiven for thinking it’s a laptop designed for the gamer, just without the RGB charm.
It sports an attractive, understated look, with a modern and gorgeous thin bezel that manages to hold a 720p webcam for all your video conferencing needs. Its build quality is sturdy, with sold hinges that ensure the device doesn’t wobble during presentations.
The HP 15-dy2024nr weighs 3.75 kgs and is only 0.71 inches thick, making it portable enough to sling in a bag and carry around a university campus.
HP has decided to opt for a 15.6-inch, Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) screen setup with this laptop; but the HP 15 isn’t a convertible like the HP Pavilion x360 (14-dh2011nr), so bending back the hinge will only cause damage.
HP hasn’t skimped for port allocation, even with the 15-dy2024nr being quite a slim bit of kit. The laptop comes with two high-speed USB-As, a USB-C port, an HDMI-out, a headphone jack, and a micro-SD card slot, providing lots of compatibilities. It’s exciting to see some older ports included in a market where sometimes USB-A and HDMIs have been dropped altogether.

Keyboard & Touchpad
The keyboard is nicely tactile, smooth and responsive which puts it way ahead of some more compact laptops out there. However, one thing to note is that it isn’t backlit, meaning it isn’t one of the best options for working after the light fades.
As for the touchpad, it is almost the MacBook-like in size, offering your fingers lots of travel. It’s sweetly smooth and tracking us accurate, with some pretty firm and responsive buttons. it doesn’t include a fingerprint reader for windows Hello logins, but it’s still a fine combo.
HP 15-dy2024nr performance
The HP 15-inch laptop packs an 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB solid state drive (SSD) storage and Intel Iris Xe graphics. This is an almost similar configuration as that of the Asus ZenBook 14 (UX425EA-EH51) only that the latter has double the storage – 512GB SSD – and includes a Thunderbolt 4, which is not available on the HP 15 laptop.
Well, the 11th Gen processor and fast SSD boot drive make this laptop snappy than most competitors at this price point, garnering better performance than some premium and expensive Windows Ultrabooks. This shows the performance boosts that a “Tiger Lake” processor can bring to the table, as well as the gains from a decent capacity of RAM.
Even when loading a dozen of Chrome tabs, the 15-dy2024nr doesn’t falter when browsing, and it’s certainly up to the task of breezing through any coursework or any urgent office deadlines that need to be met.
There’s even the option to indulge in some light gaming – although don’t expect to go too crazy. You can run some less-intense titles such as Minecraft, but loading a massive GTA V might prove a bit too much. Should you need to hit the extremes for less money, consider the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 (82K20015US model) with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
Battery Life
On performance, the 15-dy2024nr is a laptop that easily punches above the weight. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for its battery life. With reduced brightness up to 50% and PCMark 10’s benchmark that simulates office work, the HP 15-inch laptop lasts around seven and half hours, which is practically an hour less than the figure HP quotes.
Compared to the competition, the HP 15-dy2024nr doesn’t stack up nicely – the Asus ZenBook 14 lasts well over 12 hours, and our favorite Windows machine, Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, makes it to 8 hours 45 minutes.
Verdict – A laptop with a bit of style
The HP 15-inch laptop is a well-built and classy-looking mid-range notebook, with a tactile keyboard and decent port selection. It also offers nicely balanced audio and Ultrabook levels of power at a lower price than most competition.
It’s a perfect choice for anyone looking to to add a bit of style to their office setup or want the power to work throughout the day at the office or college. With an 11th generation processor, fast SSD storage, a sharp 1080p display, the HP 15-dy2024nr is one of the best laptops at this price range.
