Connectivity

Connectivity features include two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports at the back side, has two HDMI output ports that lets you connect an HDTV or up to 3 monitors for high-quality videos and sound. The desktop has an ultra slim DVD burner so you can create discs at your own pleasure. There is also a built-in 7-in-1 media card reader for increasing your storage or just moving files. Important to note is the fact that this system unit does not come with a monitor so you have to purchase it on our own, but you are at least spared the cost of buying a keyboard and a mouse since they are inclusive in the package mouse.

The 1TB hard drive offers ample room to store your favorite games, photos and videos. The HDD spins at 7200rpm thereby providing quick start-up times and fast read/write files. However, if you need more space then consider having one of its series, either the HP ENVY 750-110 or HP ENVY 750-111 which comes with 2TB HDD that is more than enough for the storage of your HD movies, HD videos, digital photos, games or applications. The powerful processor and dedicated graphics can drive up to 3 external displays for intense multitasking.

Performance

The HP ENVY 750-140 strikes a balance between the processor, memory and storage as it comes with an Intel core i5-6400 processor from the Skylake generation that is speedy and perfect for mid-range use. It offers four cores, eight threads with a 6MB cache and clocks 2.7GHz base speed that could increase to a frequency of 3.3GHz with a Turbo boost technology.

The i5 is adequate for power user activities and daily tasks as the decent chip has a CPU mark of over 6400 points score. In terms of memory, it has 8GB SD RAM that is enough in supplementing the processor thereby making sure that there is no application that can lag, but its still upgradable to 16GB, incase the 8GB gets too slow for your daily computing needs.

Game enthusiasts will be disappointed with the HP ENVY 750-140 because it cannot serve the hardcore gamers satisfactorily, but for the casual gamers it comes with a Geforce GT 730 graphics engine with a dedicated memory unit of 2GB GDDR5 making it much better than mere integrated engines. As such it can easily handle games like GTA 5 but you will have to keep your settings around medium and resolution 720p to get playable frame rates. However, if you are a true gamer, then going deep into your pocket for the Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK or the ASUS G11CD-US008T  won’t spoil the party but you shall get value for your money.

The HP ENVY 750-140 is a midrange user desktop that can conveniently handle your daily tasks and allow you to play some games on it. The powerful CPU and particularly the hard drive plus the solid states drive combo shall ensure smooth operation while using the desktop. For the casual gamers, the entry-level graphics engine offers a platform for a bit of some gaming. Pairing this desktop with a high-end monitor like the HP Envy 24 will offer you an ultimate computing experience.
