Vremi Countertop Ice Maker Review

The Vremi Countertop Ice Maker is a compact ice maker that uses a unique compression process to produce the chewable nuggets you get in restaurants and bars but this time you make them at home. It’s compact enough to sit on the kitchen countertop, meaning you can easily slot it into your office or home kitchen surface.

When in use, the vREMI Ice Maker can produce 9 chewable bullet shaped ice cubes, and in the long haul, it can produce up to 12 kgs of ice in 24 hrs. That’s delicious.

Design

With its stainless-steel cabinet, glossy black trim and interior, and clear plastic ice bin, the Vremi Countertop Ice Maker will look right at home on any kitchen countertop. It measures 9.5 x 12 x 13.5 inches, and with this profile, it can go anywhere. Since it doesn’t need to be hooped up to a water source, it makes for an excellent choice to carry around to barbeques, outdoor events, or basement bars.

It’s 1.5 lb. removable ice bucket and plastic scoop give you all the convenience you’d ever want in a portable ice maker. The machine can make at least a pound of ice per hour, so it’s much faster that a refrigerator ice maker, which usually makes between three and four pounds of ice per day.

Installation & Cleaning

Before using the Vremi ice maker, you have to prep the machine. Start by washing the bin with warm soapy water and rinsing thoroughly. It’s recommended that you clean the ice maker at least once a week using a solution that includes five cups of water and a teaspoon of bleach. This level of cleaning requires multiple rinses to get rid of any trace of the bleach.

The top of the machine holds a removable plastic ice bucket that holds a good amount of ice, as well as a plastic scoop. Below the ice bucket is a 2.2-litre water reservoir that lets your ice maker reuse water from melted ice to make new ice – that’s a feature you mostly see in commercial ice makers. The bin has drainage holes that let melted ice drain back into the reservoir so it can be reused.

Performance

On the front of the bin is a power button and three indicators that tell you what is happening at a glance: add water, ice full, and ice making in progress. Within about 10 minutes the first ice nuggets begin to drop into the bin. If you give it time, you’ll have the bucket full and ready for the party.

The Vremi bullet-shaped ice not only looks great, it has a signature crunchy consistency and is easy to chew or add to freshly pressed juice from your blender. Since it produces 9 pieces of bullet-shaped ice cubes at a time, it makes for an excellent choice for anyone who relishes ice for mixed drinks or need cubes that can be dropped into small water bottle openings.

Bottom Line

With the Vremi Countertop Ice Maker, you can have all the crunchy nugget ice you can relish on without leaving the house. This stylish countertop appliance is easy to setup, use, and clean, unlike its competitors that require time before you can get master the operations.

Granted it comes at a low price and features modern ice making technology, and the ice it produces is every bit as good as what you’d find at the restaurant or bar. The Vremi isn’t the quietest when it’s making ice, but this is a minor gripe that are easily overlooked, especially if you’re a nugget ice aficionado.
